There are some serious high performance products out there for our vehicles, and these include Akamoto exhaust systems. These are specifically designed to improve the performance of our vehicles by reducing the air flow blockers in our engine. In layman’s terms, this means that when you press the gas pedal, you get where you’re going in a much bigger hurry.

When you work on this portion of the car normally, it means you have to hoist the car in the air. Otherwise, you would have to lay under the car and reach your way through the labyrinth of pipes and connections. By giving yourself easy access, you will be able to measure and make easier visual inspection of your work.

When attempting this kind of project for the first time, you might want to research it a little before you start. The Internet offers great resources for this, including videos and step-by-step instructions for each step. Even if you’re not going to do it right away, it can be a wonderful study session for getting everything together that you need to complete the task.

These particular exhaust arrangements are known for their quality, and their 30-year guarantee. Known for their high performance, they are used in racing vehicles and anyone who wants to add a little more power to their driving. Because they are anti-corrosion parts, they will do well in environments where the drivers deal with a little more moisture than normal.

If you want to do some comparison shopping of parts, you can do this online. There are many sites that offer these various system parts at discounted prices, and you can see how close they are to your location in order to speed up shipping. The advantage of shopping online for them is to avoid driving around unnecessarily checking with people in your area.

One aspect of talking to local experts would be to talk about how to go about such a project. They could give you experienced advice on which cars need which parts, and how many times they have run across various problems during this kind of job. Use their expertise and knowledge to do the best job in the most efficient way, and to find out which parts are optional or necessary.

Nitrous oxide is normally reserved for street racing cars and high performance vehicles. Because you can upgrade the other engine parts, however, this does not have to be so focused on only those types of vehicles. After consulting experts and other teaching sources, you will see that you can even upgrade a retro vehicle to the specs you desire.

These Akamoto exhaust systems have a history to back up their guarantee and performance. They will increase your speed and your horsepower, without decreasing the amount of mileage you get from your gas tank. They are also extremely environmentally friendly and will be great for the planet and the ozone, while they benefit you and your pocketbook as well.

Get complete information and details about the advantages of adding a stainless steel exhaust system to your vehicle today! When you are searching for a unique and distinctive exhaust back box, you can find it easily!

People are often looking for ways to get more power from their car engine, hundreds of modifications are available to do this, and this includes Electric Superchargers & Turbos. These are readily available and are said to be able to increase the overall horsepower of an engine. With an increase in horsepower comes better acceleration and a higher overall top speed.

A mix of air and fuel are ignited inside a closed space called the combustion chamber within an engine. This creates a small explosion which moves a piston head because the pressure inside the chamber increases. This piston turns a drive shaft as it moves downwards. Increasing the amount of air in the combustion chamber is an easy way to gain more power from an engine.

The explosion will be bigger with more air included in the fuel air mix. If this explosion is increased then the pressure in the chamber is increased, moving the piston faster and providing more power, in turn increasing horsepower. Hot air does not burn as well as cool air, so the temperature of the air is also a factor in how much power is produced.

Superchargers and turbos contain a fan which compresses air and forces more of it into the engine, this is called forced induction. As the air is compressed it gets cooler as well, adding another advantage, this is because the air moves faster and has less chance of heating up before it gets into the engine. The way the fans in the two devices are powered is what makes them differ.

Supercharges are usually powered from belts or chains connected to a gear or wheel connected to the drive shaft. An electric supercharger uses power from the car battery to drive the fan which pressurizes the air. Electric super chargers will only increase horsepower on full throttle because this is when a valve controlling the amount of air to an engine is fully open.

A traditional charger is a lot more complicated to install than an electric one. An electric charger is simply installed in the current induction system of the engine and a power cable is connected to the battery. Traditional chargers may provided more power but a cheap electric charger can still provide an average of an 8.5% increase in power.

Turbos work in a similar fashion, with a fan compressing air and forcing it into the engine. However they are driven by exhaust gases rather than the engine directly. A turbine that is placed in the exhaust system is turned by the gases and this in turn powers the compressing fan. Turbos are considered to be slightly more efficient because waste energy is used to power them rather than power which could be directed towards the wheels.

Electric superchargers & Turbos are one of the best ways to increase the power from an engine. By increasing the air flow into the combustion chamber they can increase the explosion creating more energy on the piston head. This is in turn means more horsepower which goes to the wheels hence making the car more powerful.

Searching for a way to enchance your engine? The electric supercharger and electric turbo has a fan that compresses the air and forces more air into the engine. This is known as forced induction. As the air is compressed, it gets cooler, which makes the air to flow quicker.

Stock car racing was really born out of the inclination of owners of modified stock (meaning: ‘off the sales lot’) cars to show off their vehicles, craftsmanship and driving expertise. The need to ‘soup up’ these stock cars came from the wish to escape the law enforcement agencies chasing them when they were running moonshine or said another way, bootlegging.

During Prohibition, a lot of moonshine whiskey was being made in remote areas of the Appalachians and in particular the Allegheny Mountains, from where it was taken by private carriers in their own stock cars often to the southern states. Many of these drivers tuned up their vehicles in order to have more chance of getting away.

When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, this bootlegging continued in order to circumvent paying duty, but it slowly died out. However, the fire had already been lit and the drivers of these cars liked to race them in their spare time for pride and reward, particularly in the southern states and particularly in North Carolina, where most of the stock car teams are still to be found.

NASCAR was founded by Bill French in 1947 when he crafted the first set of uniform rules and a championship scoring system so that an overall winner of all the season’s races could be worked out.

However, the conditions in the early days were pretty crude. The cars were often second-hand and worn and the track was just earth and dust. Under these conditions the cars quickly fell apart, so NASCAR allowed competing cars to be customized or strengthened. Safety aspects for the drivers were also introduced. Nowadays, the NASCAR instruction manual clearly defines all the modifications that are allowed on contending cars.

These days it is a mistake to call NASCAR cars ‘stock cars’; they are anything but stock cars. NASCAR cars are hand made. The frames are different from stock cars in that they are manufactured from tubes for strength; the tin is sheet steel and the engine blocks begin as just that – a bare block. What the mechanics do with it after that is a tightly guarded secret.

The safety of the driver is also taken very seriously. The driver is shielded from harm by a heavy roll cage. Strong round and square tubes make up the car’s framework, while thinner tubing is employed at the front and back ends to soak up the impact of crashes by crushing gradually. These are called clips and the front clip will also allow the engine to fall away under the car, rather than be forced straight back into the driver.

The bodies of NASCAR cars are not straightforward to make, often taking ten days to finish. However, NASCAR rules cover the general body shape and they provide thirty templates to make manufacturing a NASCAR car a little easier.

But it does not stop there. There are different regulations and templates for different sorts of races on different tracks, because the cars that compete on superspeedways are not the same as those used for short tracks or endurance races.

A lot of people have never even heard of Formula D or Formula Drifting, which offers a far better clue of what this motor sport is really all about. In fact, like all competitive motor sports it takes a great deal of skill, because the vehicles involved can be anything from 200 to 600 bhp.

The purpose is to manage your car while it slides sideways through a pre-set course in style. The more style the better, speed is secondary.

In a way, Formula D takes all the spectacle out of other racing and packages them into one competition. The US drifting scene takes the excitement a stage further though. They play two vehicles off against each other at the same time.

This makes it a great deal simpler to compare the abilities of the drivers and makes for some really exciting close driving – often the drivers’ vehicles are no more than inches apart.

This is exciting stuff as the drivers manipulate their vehicles through incredible slides that would leave many drivers quaking. The nearest most drivers come to anywhere near this degree of sliding is once a year on ice.

The sport of drifting actually began in Japan in the mid Nineties, but the drivers are now household names and the sport is crossing continents. In fact, there are fans of drifting all over the world, in spite of the fact that Formula D still gets relatively little coverage. There are now recognized amateur drifting events in the US, Australia and Europe.

You could in fact say that Drifting was an alternative sport until about 2003, when top Japanese professional drivers were brought to the United States for the first time to compete with local drivers en masse.

If you know of Formula D or would like to, please look up their website, because it is one of the few means along with watching it on TV that you can demonstrate that you support this exciting and relatively new motor sport, so that it will be able to stay afloat amid the harsh competition from more entrenched motor sports such as Formula One, NASCAR and Indy.

You can show your support as said above, but you could also talk to your friends about it. Regrettably, as yet, there are not a lot of venues where you can see live Formula D competitions, but some of the few are in California, Washington, Illinois and Georgia. If you can get along to one of these live competitions, then you are sure not to be dissatisfied.

Denny Hamlin ended a sophomore slump of sorts when he won the rain delayed Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway. The win was Hamlin’s first of the season and broke a 50 race winless streak. His last victory had come in 2008 at Martinsville Raceway.

After the race, an emotional Hamlin dedicated the victory to his grandmother who passed away late last week at the age of 91:

She understands the competition of the sport and she understands how much she means to me. Like today, she’s pretty proud. We definitely had some angels with us today.”

The unique triangle configuration track at Pocono bedevils many drivers, but Hamlin has always performed well here. He swept both races here as a rookie in 2006 and after the race his boss J.D. Gibbs made note of that fact:

I told him earlier, we’re going to lobby for a few extra races at Pocono”

Hamlin moved up to fifth in the NASCAR championship points standings after the victory. Tony Stewart increased his lead over Jimmie Johnson to 197 points with a top ten finish.

Juan Pablo Montoya finished second, moving him up to 8th place in the overall points standings. Clint Bowyer finished third and expressed pleasure with the solid performance in his postrace comments:

“Things haven’t been going our way all year long so it feels good to have something swing our way.

Former Indy Car driver Sam Hornish, Jr. took fourth”his best finish since coming to NASCAR. Kasey Kahne wound up in fifth place.

Points leader Stewart will have a good opportunity to increase his lead this weekend, as NASCAR heads to Watkins Glen, NY to race on the road course there. Stewart is considered not only the best road course driver among current NASCAR competitors, but arguably the best of all time.

South Carolina's Darlington Raceway is an egg shaped terror that has become known as the track too tough to tame. If thats true, David Pearson came pretty close--during his illustrious career, he posted 10 victories and 12 poles at Darlington. These are both records for one of NASCAR's most unforgiving tracks. Pearson's ability at Darlington bordered on the unreal, and he was able to follow the conventional wisdom about performing well there better than anyone.

South Carolina’s Darlington Raceway is an egg shaped terror that has become known as the track too tough to tame. If thats true, David Pearson came pretty close–during his illustrious career, he posted 10 victories and 12 poles at Darlington. These are both records for one of NASCAR’s most unforgiving tracks. Pearson’s ability at Darlington bordered on the unreal, and he was able to follow the conventional wisdom about performing well there better than anyone. The old saying is that you need to race the track, not the other drivers, but that’s a lot easier said than done. Pearson, however, made it look easy.

David Pearson was born on December 22, 1934 in Whitney, SC–a textile town near Spartanburg. Like most of the locals, his parents worked in the local cotton mill and did their best to provide. David quit school after the 10th grade and went to work in the mill. It wasnt long, however, before his love of cars and racing made him leave the mill life behind. He bought a car and began racing at short tracks in the upstate. He ran his first race on 9/19/52 in Woodruff South Carolina. Within a few years, he won his first championship at the Greenville/Pickens Speedway in’59.

Pearson never really sought much more than this local fame and success, but a couple of his friends and some fans had loftier ambitions”they began raising money to buy a car to compete in the NASCAR Grand National series (which was the forerunner to today’s Sprint Cup series). With the financial backing from friends and family, David began racing a limited schedule on the Grand National circuit and was named the’60 rookie of the year. In’61, he became the first driver to win on 3 of 4 superspeedways in the same year (Charlotte, Daytona, Atlanta). Success beget sponsors, whos dollars allowed him to afford better cars and crew. This brought about championships”he won three Grand National titles in’66,’68 and’69.

The’70s saw Pearson cut back his schedule somewhat, focusing on superspeedways. In’72, he started driving for the Wood Brothers in the #21 car that he was to make a legend. In’73, he won 11 races in’ starts”an incredible feat even by today’s standards. Through the end of the’70s, Pearson won 43 races. In addition to his mastery of Darlingon, he posted remarkable numbers all over the circuit. He is one of two men to have won more than 100 races, and his 105 is second only to The King Richard Petty’s 200 wins. Hes also second on career poles (113) to Petty. Head to head, however, he has a slight edge over NASCARs legendary King: in races where he and Petty finished 1-2, Pearson won 33 to Petty’s 30. His 11 consecutive poles at Charlotte is a feat that will likely never be matched. Another record that may never be broken is his’.29% winning percentage, as well as his record of starting from the pole in 20% of the races he ran.

Pearson is alive and well and still lives in Spartanburg, SC. In March 2000, SC Highway 221 through Spartanburg County was renamed David Pearson Boulevard in his honor. He still gets out on the Darlington track a few times a year–impressive for anyone, but even more so for a 75 year old man. And he’s still got the sterling silver hair which gave him his nickname of ‘The Silver Fox’.
