Are Gas Additives Beneficial To Your Gasoline Consumption?

0

Most retail stores stock fuel and oil additives and advertisements for them abound. They practically all make the exact same claim, that by adding them to your gas your car will get better gas mileage. The FDA says none of these products have been authorized by them, yet some of them make that claim.

If they aren’t FDA approved, then it is very strange that they are allowed to be sold under the false pretense that they have been approved. Who is an individual to believe and just what does one do under these instances? If there’s no authority that is trustworthy and truthful, then consumers are at the mercy of the product makers’ ingenuity. Deposit the additive in the tank along with the gasoline when you next fill up, and, so the instructions say, your car’s gas mileage will go up. Simply because the additive takes up space in the gas tank you will need less gas to fill it up, but you are not going to realize an improvement in the gas mileage.

Evidently there are deposits at the bottom part of the gas tank which have to be cleaned out, and so in the additives you will find platinum, magnesium and tin, which they say do this. One thing that’s sure, never use a product that has acetone, because it will break down plastic parts in your fuel system. It is claimed that acetone in minimal quantities is safe, but who’s to know when that amount is exceeded. Why would you try something which may possibly cause damage when you don’t know for sure that it is going to work, anyway. You would certainly hate to wreck your fuel system by implementing a product that never worked. The additives are generally safe for your car, but there is no real need for them anyway.

If a vehicle owner can be made to believe that the product can make his car better, he will buy it, so this is what the marketing boys aim to do. Many consumers are seduced by the advertising claims, and frequently put an additive in along with their fuel. Regardless of whether the product actually works like the advertisers claim is difficult to check, but in the event that people keep buying they have a profitable business. One reason these additives are not necessary is the fact that the gas already has ingredients which will do the same thing. Gas additives might not be expensive, but why squander money on them if they don’t work the way they promise. If your fuel probably does it, why are you being misled into buying something that doesn’t help.

The additives that are currently there for the oil, are just depositing in what the oil already has. What is essential, though, is to make use of the oil that is appropriate for your car. Using the incorrect class of oil could damage your car’s engine very badly.
